The Forest of Reading® is Canada’s largest recreational reading program and an initiative of the Ontario Library Association. Designed to encourage a love of reading in people of all ages, the Forest of Reading celebrates Canadian books, publishers, authors and illustrators. Oxford County Library is encouraging participants like you to discover as many of the books as you can in your age/grade category and vote on your favourite!

Vote for Your Favourite

Forest of Reading voting through Oxford County Library will take place from April 1st until April 28th. Participants will be able to vote virtually through an online form below or they can visit their local branch to vote!

Blue Spruce Nominee Voting (JK-Grade 2) 

Silver Birch EXPRESS Nominee Voting (Grades 3-4, fiction and non-fiction) 

Silver Birch FICTION Nominee Voting (Grades 5-6, fiction)

Yellow Cedar Award Nominee Voting (Grades 5-8, non-fiction)

Red Maple Award Nominee Voting (Grades 7-8, fiction)

White Pine Award Nominee Voting (Grades 9-12, fiction) 

Winners will be announced at the Forest of Reading virtual festival from May 17-18, 2022

Reading Lists

We've put together reading lists for you to easily check out the nominated books by award category. We encourage children and youth to read as many of the books from their program as possible to vote. Connect with us and share your reading journey on social media! Tag us @OxfordCountyLibrary! Track Your Reading and Engage with the Books

Join a Beanstack Challenge, available for all age categories, to track your reading online and gain badges! Children ages 4-12 can engage with the books further by using the Reading Passports.

Register your child through Beanstack or download the app.* Sign up for the Forest of Reading challenge for your age/grade group. Log when you read nominated titles and complete activity badges.

* If signing up with the Beanstack App, be sure to choose “School, Library, or Bookstore” when asked to choose an organization type and then choose Oxford County Library.
